Thank you for voting us Best Plumber of Nevada County for 2021!
Because of you, Craig Johnson Plumbing was awarded the coveted Best of Nevada County 2021 by The Union‘s readers for the SEVENTH year in a row! We are so grateful for the trust this community has in us and giving us the opportunity to service you. Our goal for 2022 is to continue providing the best plumbing service that we can offer!
We are incredibly thankful to be voted Nevada County’s best plumber!
As we navigate through this serious situation that is gripping our country, we’d like to assure our clients that Craig Johnson Plumbing has taken appropriate and recommended precautions to ensure the safety of our employees and customers.
We remain open and are still available to do service calls.
Here are some of the steps we’re taking to continue to provide our services to clients in a safe and healthy way:
We are asking clients to refrain from visiting our office in person until further notice. Furthermore, we are sending digital invoices whenever possible to avoid any unnecessary contact with clients.
Since we are an essential business, we’ve had safety meetings with our employees based on the literature that’s been supplied through the CDC, GotSafety and the State of California.
Our employees are equipped with sanitizers, bleach solutions, booties and masks.
We are employing sanitization and “social distancing” at the office to prevent possible spread or transmission.
We are screening service calls, as well as having clients retreat to another room during a service call to stay within the 6 ft recommended for “social distancing”.
Technicians are cleaning their work area before and after service, in addition to having the proper preventative gear on.
In our business we do a lot of exterior work, so in many cases there will be zero contact with clients.
If you have special needs or concerns, we will do our best to accommodate those needs to keep you comfortable and safe.
We want to provide as much support to our community as we can during this time, and will continue to do so while monitoring recommended procedures daily. Should you have any additional concerns we are here to help and listen. Feel free to reach out—and keep washing those hands!

When was the last time you thought about your smoke detectors?
The best time to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors is when you are already moving around the house to get ready for the next season. Have you check your batteries? Is the unit is working properly? Is the unit in the best place to detect an emergency? Additionally, check to make sure you have extra batteries on hand if the batteries do not need to be replaced just yet. This way you will greatly reduce the time the unit is not working.
At Craig Johnson Plumbing we wanted to share with you a little Fall tip…hopefully, we’ve brought something to your attention that you wouldn’t normally think about…kind of like your plumbing. This is also a good time to check under you sinks for any dampness you may not have noticed, especially in bathrooms that you don’t normally use.
We want to thank each and every one of The Union readers for voting Craig Johnson Plumbing as Nevada County’s “Best Plumber” for the third year in a row! It’s truly an honor. Once again, thank you!

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year or you’re simply a guest, the last thing you need in a home is for a plumbing problem. First and foremost don’t treat your garbage disposal like a garbage can. Disposals can do a lot of good, however, if you can throw an item away, do it. And NEVER pour grease down the drain. Turkey grease will harden and come back to haunt you.
HERE’S a few tips:
Don’t put grease, oil, or stringy vegetables, such as celery stalks or potato peels (basically any large, tough food scraps or stringy foods) down the garbage disposal.
Make sure you turn your garbage disposal on before putting any waste inside, and also let the water run for a few seconds first.
Since your garbage disposal is one if the most vulnerable pieces of equipment in your home on Thanksgiving Day, consider playing it safe and throwing all food in the garbage instead.
If something falls into the garbage disposal by accident, NEVER put your hand down the disposal without first turning power off at the source. There is a switch on the garbage disposal unit that will turn power off. If you can’t find the switch, turn off power to the unit from the breaker box.
If you find yourself in need of some professional plumbing assistance, we will be available to help you out!
A shout out for local businesses! I would like to publicly thank Craig Johnson Plumbing for donating services to Sammie’s Friends’ cat facility.
We desperately needed hot water to clean litter boxes (try cleaning anything in ice cold water)! Also, Jason at Sierra Plumbing Supply donated a hot water heater, Mo from MEM Electrical provided the electrical capability, and Craig and Joel from Craig Johnson Plumbing ran the pipes and completed the installation.
Thank you from the staff, the volunteers, and all the kitties at Sammie’s Friends. Businesses like these need to be supported and recognized for their generosity to our community.

Craig Johnson Plumbing- No job too big or too small
Craig Johnson Plumbing has been serving their neighbors in Nevada and Placer Counties since 2004. Craig and Denise, along with their two daughters, have made Grass Valley their home since 1999. They started their family-owned business so that they could raise their girls in this small, friendly community, which allowed them the freedom to attend any and all school functions.
Now that their daughters are adults they’ve had more time to focus on the growth of their family business. Craig Johnson Plumbing recently moved to a larger location at 10841 Rough and Ready Hwy. in Grass Valley. They’ve added five additional plumbers to their business family and are equipped to do all phases of plumbing, Residential and Commercial. No job too big or too small…from a clogged drain to re-plumbing your home, CJP is up for the task.
Craig, Denise and their crew are never too busy to answer your call. Whether you have an emergency or would like to schedule a service call at your home or office you can count on them! CJP owners and employees pride themselves on offering fast, reliable and fair service to all of their clients.
“We are truly flattered and honored to have won Best Plumbing Service for the past two years from the readers of The Union,” said Denise & Craig Johnson. “We are a business that prides ourselves on word of mouth and referrals. A referral is a highest form of flattery; when a client refers family and friends to our business it represents an appreciation of a job well done and is a stamp of approval that speaks volumes.” So we thank the Union readers for giving us their stamp of approval for the second year in a row!
